Art on the Ridge

I just discovered an Art on the Ridge blog that links back to us and has a very nice description of growing up as a neighbor of Ruth's.
I was fortunate enough to grow up on Bennett Ridge, and one of my childhood influences was my neighbor and late artist, Ruth Dicker. Her unique style of painting, and her modern home, with mobiles and African masks on display, captured my imagination forever. Her bold, creative energy will be missed.
Ruth participated in Art on the Ridge for many years. The family participated on her behalf in 2005 with a mini-museum show in her house. We sold paintings, postcards, sketches, constructions and more. Everyone who left with a memory of Ruth looked happy that day. Below are pictures from the garage in 2003 and the house in 2005.

Flags of Autumn

I was very excited to be contacted by another Ruth Dicker admirer recently. She shared this picture of Flags of Autumn from 1983. It is 3 x 4 feet in size.

Looking through my records, it appears to have originally be shown at the Piper Sonoma Cellars in Windsor, CA, also in 1983.

Restored Ruth Dicker Painting

Here is a very old Ruth Dicker painting that has been nicely restored. Note the initials of RRD meaning that it was painted before she was married in the 1940's.

Atomic Ranch

I was looking at the cover of Atomic Ranch: Design Ideas for Stylish Ranch Homes the other day and wondered if there wasn't a Ruth Dicker painting hanging inside the house. All the way on the right hand side of the picture is the painting in question. Inside the book, it is pictured on page 67. It looks like it could be and is in a California Eichler, so there is a chance it could be. If you know, drop me an email.

Three paintings and a wood sculpture

I was contacted by another fan who is looking for a new home for some Ruth Dicker paintings. They look like nice mid 60's pieces, three paintings and a wood sculpture.

He is interested in selling them on ebay or craigslist, so they will probably end up there soon. I'll add an update with the links if they do become available.
